Multi-Purpose building on site of former Albert Road School, Albert Road, Ramsey.
This site is the grounds of the former Albert Road School, which has since been demolished, off Albert Road in the centre of Ramsey Town. The proposal is for a three storey multi-purpose building with associated on-site parking. The ground floor comprises of a two storey Auditorium with a balcony mezzanine level. Two Function Rooms are proposed with public toilets, all accessible from a main central entrance lobby which is accessible off the main rear parking area through a two storey glass entrance and a secondary pedestrian access off the corner of Christian Street/Albert Road.
The main central staircase and lift provide access up to the upper floor levels which comprise of Offices and a large Café/Restaurant, with a West facing external balcony providing views out onto the T-T course and the hills beyond, located at the first floor level. Larger Office accommodation is also proposed on the top floor level. Public Toilets are also proposed at each upper level, again with access off the main central stairwell.
The proposed structure of the building comprises a steel portal frame with cavity block built infill panel walls. The building has been designed with a modern appearance, taking into account the heights of the existing surrounding buildings and of the original school building which has since been demolished. The external finishes comprise of a mixture of through colour render system and high quality vertical timber cladding to the external cavity walls, large aluminium powder coated, double glazed, window/door units and high quality standing seam composite roofing sheets with concealed guttering system.
